If you receive the error message "Failed to Load Game Data" when patching, it indicates that part of the game data has been corrupted. To resolve this, the game’s Version.dat file needs to be updated to reflect the current version number. You can do that by following the below steps:

  1. Close the ArcheAge launcher
  2. Navigate to C:\ArcheAge\Working\ and locate the file Version.dat
  3. Right-click the file, select Open with, and select Notepad
  4. Replace the number in the file with the most recent version number.

How to find the Version Number

The version number is updated with each new version of the game, so it will be different every week. The quickest way to find the most recent version number is to check this post in the official ArcheAge discord, where it is updated every week.

You can also ask a friend who’s not encountering the issue if they can look it up for you in their Version.dat file, or you can submit a ticket by clicking the Contact Us button below (but that will probably take a lot longer than looking it up on Discord).

If you’re not part of the ArcheAge Discord, you can join it here.

What if it doesn't work?

If you're still receiving the same error message after updating the Version.dat, the next thing to do is to make sure you have a file named installed.config and that it's formatted correctly.

The file is located in the same folder as Version.dat and it should contain the following text:

[INSTALLED.CONFIG]

isCompleted=1

After you've ensured this file is correct, relaunch the game. If it's still not working after that, please click the Contact Us button (below) to submit a help request to our support team. Make sure to mention that you've checked both the Version.dat and the installed.config files.
