We are seeing reports that some users encounter issues when attempting to patch or launch the game.

Antivirus Detection [Update: Resolved]

Some users receive a virus detection similar to: 
Detected: Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml file C:\KakaoGames\ArcheAge\174.pak 
This is a false positive, and it's safe to whitelist the detection.

  • Add the game folder to the Exclusion List of your antivirus, Windows Security, and Firewall (including Bitdefender).
  • Please make sure that the whole game folder is added, as having the launcher or the game client executable files alone is not enough.
  • The folder should be C:/KakaoGames or anywhere the game installation is.
  • Please bear in mind that this is not the Archeage folder in documents

We have forwarded the issue to the developers of those security apps that we've seen detect the file. Please note that it may take up to a few days for the update to propagate to all users of the AV software.

Failed to Patch [Update: Resolved]*


The error message "Failed to Patch" is the launcher reacting to the above issue.


  • the above mentioned problem has been resolved and you shouldn't be getting the error message. Please re-run the launcher for it.
  • Please note that you won't need to add the game folder to the Exclusion list. Although, the launcher might install the entire game again.
